Sinew binding for a flintknapped arrowhead.

Updated: Jun 9, 2021

I love practicing primitive skills, especially when they all unite to create something useful. There's an enormous sense of satisfaction to be had when you shoot a handmade arrow, with a flint head you knapped yourself, bound with pine pitch you produced on the campfire, which is wrapped with sinew fibres you prepared, from a primitive style self-bow that you carved yourself by hand!

These sorts of skills have been practiced by our ancestors for millennia, and when I practice and teach them I feel a tangible link to our past. It's hard to explain or describe, but it's deeply rewarding and satisfying. I love it!

If you want to learn these skills then keep checking back, on the courses page of my website, for the next available survival-archery course I'm running. I'd love to see you there!

Keep on Bushcrafting folks, take care.
